Fall vacation rentals in Branson, Missouri

Fall is the perfect time for a vacation rental in Branson, Missouri. The weather in no quite so hot as it is in the summer time, but still nice enough to be outside and be comfortable. The average high temperature in September is 80, October is 70, and November is around 60. Low temperatures range from about 70 in September to around 34 in November. Of course, these are generalities. We have gone to see the Christmas lights in just t-shirts and shorts and been comfortable, and there have been times it has been too cold to be outdoors for any length of time without serious winter gear in October.
The fall colors peak around mid October, and it looks like a beautiful fall is in store. There has been plenty of moisture this year so when the shorter days and cool nights of fall arrive, the fall colors should be breathtaking. So what is there to do in Branson beside look at the leaves?
One of the all time favorite draws of the area has been the fishing. If fishing isnt your primary reason for visiting the Ozarks, you may still want to throw in your poles. Lake Taneycomo is stocked regularly with rainbow trout. Fishing is easy from the bank in lots of spots including right below Table Rock Dam and along the banks in Branson. You will need a valid Missouri fishing license and trout tag.
Bass fishing is another big draw to the Branson area. Boat rentals are found all along the Tri-Lakes area. Yes, three wonderful lakes to fish in. Branson is just a few short miles from the Arkansas border. Be sure to also check out the Arkansas fishing license requirements if you are going to be boating into those beautiful waters too.
If amusement parks are more to your liking, you might want to visit Silver Dollar City. This park has all the roller coasters and rides to keep the kids happy. For the grownups, there are shops galore. The premise of the park is how the Ozarks would have looked in the 1880s. The staff is all in period costumes, and the fall brings a special fall festival. The air is cool and has the smell of hickory smoke from the sorghum cooking vat. It is a wonderful way to spend a day or two. Be aware that on the water rides you will get wet, and it feels really great on a hot day. If you are visiting on a cool day, you have been forewarned.
Tour bus after tour bus brings visitors to the area for the shows. There are so many to choose from, you could stay a week, go to 2 shows a day and not see them all. They are so much fun. One of the favorites in our house is Dolly Partons Dixie Stampede. This is one of the dinner shows that are in town. As the Christmas holiday season approaches, most of the shows change to a holiday theme. We have seen both shows at Dixie and love them both.
Accommodations do tend to fill up fast closer to the holidays, so dont wait to make to reserve your vacation rental. There are vacation rentals, hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, cabins by the lake, tent camping and RV parks. You name it; it is available in the Branson area.
Shopping is always fun in Branson. There are several outlet malls, and a new shopping area on the lakefront in downtown Branson. As the holiday shopping season approaches, these areas can become very busy. So be patient, expect a bit of a delay getting in and out of the shopping areas and have a good time. If you flew into Branson, you may want to consider mailing your shopping treasures home to avoid overweight bag fees. Some places will help you mail oversized purchases home so you dont have to try and haul them around.
As you can see, there is some thing for everyone in the family all fall long in Branson. I highly recommend a day of fishing while others shop and then a nice dinner show. For a romantic dinner, try the Candlestick Inn. It overlooks Lake Taneycomo and the Branson Landing. It is not the least expensive place in town to eat, but you cant beat it for the view and the atmosphere. Be sure try the Candlestick Shrimp as an appetizer and have the flourless chocolate cake for dessert with a glass of red wine. Youll thank me later.
