Mandarian Oriental Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada Review

By Oyster.com
April 15, 2012

Despite its shortcomings -- the small pool, the cramped rooms, dated, off-site gym, and minimal service -- this 765-room time-share hotel has a quality location (a short walk from the central Strip) and its clean, modern rooms (renovated 2008) all have balconies.

Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada Review

By Oyster.com
April 15, 2012

The Venetian is the kind of place people either love or can’t stand. It’s got all the trappings of a Las Vegas megaresort -- interactive elements, plenty of retail therapy, two towering guest room buildings, and a glam pool deck.

Trump International Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada Review

By Oyster.com
March 8, 2012

Right next to the glittering Wynn and Encore, Donald Trump's golden glass tower is an attempt to, er, trump neighboring hotel magnate Steve Wynn. But the Donald has had problems finding enough buyers for the 1282 suites in his nongaming condominium hotel. His loss is your gain: Guests can score a 515-square-foot standard suite with Italian-marble bathroom floors and Sub-Zero fridge for a great rate -- the room price at times even drops to less than $100 a night.

Wynn Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada Review

By Oyster.com
March 8, 2012

Every inch of the 2,716-room Wynn hotel is meticulously designed to dazzle -- vibrant art, parasols hung upside-down from the ceilings, a surreal nightly light show projected into the "Lake of Dreams" in front of the Strip's only man-made mountain. Even among the other luxury mega-hotels on the Strip, like the Venetian or the Bellagio, the Wynn's giant, curving, copper-colored exterior -- one of the tallest buildings on the Strip -- manages to stand out from the crowd.

Mandalay Bay Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada Review

By Oyster.com
January 14, 2012

Scene
A quiet, upscale, and sophisticated retreat from the constant clanging of the casino floor in the attached Mandalay Hotel.

Without natural light, the lobby and lounge at THEhotel seems perpetually moody and atmospheric. Add in the sleek contemporary design and world-class art -- like the Jasper Johns piece near the elevators -- and the hotel achieves a mellow, cool, and dark urban-chic vibe. And that's what the relatively young guests want out of this more mature and sophisticated sister property of the adjoining Mandalay Bay: a cool and mellow respite from the over-the-top glitz and energy of the Strip.

Four Seasons Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada Review

By Oyster.com
January 14, 2012

Scene
A relaxing escape from the chaos of Las Vegas, but still very close to the action.

Drive up to the portico of the Four Seasons, past the trickling fountain and the manicured gardens, and Vegas glitz may not come to mind. Same goes when you walk by the fireplace and elegant Asian art in the wood-paneled lobby. The sedate pool could just as easily be at a Florida or Southern California resort.

Excalibur Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada Review

By Oyster.com
January 4, 2012

Scene
Cheesy, medieval decor, lots of youngsters and families in T-shirts and flip-flops. A statue of SpongeBob SquarePants stands across from the divey Dick's Last Resort bar.

The family-welcoming, medieval-themed Excalibur, a fortress-shaped hotel-casino on the southern end of the Strip, epitomizes Vegas' halfhearted transition from sexy, sinful, adults-only playground to kid-friendly tourist destination. The 3,990-room hotel is corny. The arches over the cabstand are outfitted with mock wooden portcullises.

Encore Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada Review

By Oyster.com
January 4, 2012

Scene
A gigantic luxury hotel focused on great food, gambling, elaborate (and enormous) rooms, and a few good parties throughout the week.

Opened in December 2008 by famed Vegas developer Steve Wynn, the 2,034-room Encore takes the whim and luxury of its next-door sister, the Wynn (opened in 2005), and steps it up a notch with even bigger rooms and a more attractive spa and fitness center.
