The race is on for Super Bowl hotel rooms

Dallas, Fort Worth, TX — So says The Dallas Morning News, which reports that most of the Dallas and Fort Worth area's 100,000 hotel rooms already have been spoken for. That's because National Football League people, travel providers, corporate sponsors, Super Bowl fans who don't care which team is playing and media already have reserved rooms.
The News says that in the past five Super Bowls, lodging rates generally more than doubled from the same week in the previous year, and Super Bowl rooms tend to run more than $300 a night.
The article says that a Super 8 Motel in Arlington a few miles from the stadium was charging $699 on game night, Sunday Feb. 6. But booking a stay Thursday through Sunday brought the average down to $242 a night. You can pretty much forget the big-name hotels in Dallas, such as the ZsaZsa, which is hosting big pre-Bowl parties, or the Le Meridien By the Galleria.
"The hotels, they're going to make it while they can," Jay Smith, president of Hatfield, Mass.-based SportsTravelandTours.com, told the paper. "You might get a Holiday Inn trying to get $399 or $499 because they can."
A fan housing website, by Fan Experiences, which is a partner of the NFL and North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, helps find accommodations. It says most hotels demand a four-night minimum. I just heard from CheapOair.com, which says it’s offering air + three night hotel vacation packages 2.11 miles form Cowboys Stadium, from $1273 from Vancouver, BC. Here's the link.
